To the Edge of the Map
For centuries old maps have shown terrifying monsters and beasts lurking in distant waters. Take your ship, fight the monsters and sail all the way... To the Edge of the Map
Inspired mainly by the old painting "Chart of Sea Monsters" by Sebastian Münster this game is a sidescrolling Shoot'em up where you take command of a ship and fight inside an old medieval map against ancient sea monsters to advance.
This was a game made for the GameDev.tv 2023 game jam and improved during the 2024 UN Games workshop. I tried to get the base of most of these assets from the public domain, mainly Wikimedia Commons. Here are the credits for these resources:
- Monsters - Sebastian Münster's Chart of Sea Monsters 1570 from Wikimedia Commons
- Ship - Detail from a map of Ortelius, Magellan's ship Victoria from Wikimedia Commons
- Menu Music - Breves dies hominis from Wikimedia Commons
- Game Music - Chominciamento de Gioia from Wikimedia Commons
- Ship Crash Sound Effect from Pixabay
- Cannon Fire Sound Effect from Soundfishin
